WELCOME!

Onward Catholic is more than a ministry; it is a message and a mission that was made for this very moment.

Urged on by the love of Christ, our mission is to
proclaim a message of hope and healing that moves us forward on the path to Heaven.

By God's grace and for His glory, with the Church, Scripture and the Saints as our guides, we forge ever onward.

Journey with us as we experience moments of hope and healing on the way to Heaven.

Our Goal is Heaven. What's Yours?

Heaven is our ultimate goal - and hopefully yours too.

Yet, too often, we find ourselves stuck or struggling. We become frustrated or fearful. We encounter obstacles and roadblocks. We face trials and temptations. We are weak and wounded; we stumble and sin. Perhaps we even feel alone or ashamed.

What are we to do, despair? No, never. We get up, turn back to God, and remember the great hope we have in Him. We seek Him and ask Him for the healing that leads to Heaven.

At Onward Catholic, we help people who feel like they need some help along the way. Together, we can walk this path with faith and purpose. Our prayer is that this ministry becomes a resource for us all as we seek hope and healing on the way to Heaven.

We have many resources to support you on your journey, from blogs and books to podcasts and inspirational quotes. Before we get there, though, we should begin at the beginning. Any journey begins with that first step. For us, that first step is always prayer. With that in mind, let us continue this journey together.

WISDOM OF THE SAINTS

My little children, your hearts, are small, but prayer stretches them and makes them capable of loving God.

Through prayer we receive a foretaste
of heaven and something
of paradise comes down upon us.

Prayer never leaves us without sweetness. It is honey that flows into the soul and makes all things sweet. When we pray properly, sorrows disappear like snow before the sun.

Does Prayer Really Work?

My brother, Joseph, passed away on July 30. He had been away from the Church for 40 years turning to atheism and Buddhism.

I prayed for my brother’s spiritual healing, and my wife and I prayed the Novena to Mary, Undoer of Knots, for all family members who have drifted from the faith. As you suggested, I prayed for a soul in purgatory who was there for the same sins my brother was struggling with, with the hope and expectation that soul would  intercede for my brother when they obtained Heaven.

Conversations with my brother were often tense, and we disagreed on many topics. Yet, over the last year, I poured love and charity into every interaction, guided by St. John of the Cross’s words: “Where there is no love, put love—and you will find love.”

My goal was to love more, pray more, and forgive more.

On July 24, we reconciled all our differences.

Then, on July 27, my brother, fully awake, open-hearted, and contrite, received the Sacraments: Confession, Eucharist, and Anointing.

He passed away peacefully three days later.

“Whatever God permits, He can redeem.”
“Pray to that soul in purgatory, and watch miracles happen.”

Thank you, John.

All glory to God!

Does Prayer Really Work?

During a Good Friday procession at my parish, my young godchild began to have an “episode,” as we call it. He’s easily overwhelmed and often responds dramatically to certain situations.

I just learned the spiritual warfare prayers from you, John, and prayed them out loud.  My godchild’s episode continued right up until the very second I finished the prayer—then he immediately calmed, climbed into the wagon I was pulling, and drifted off to sleep.

When he woke up, he was calm and curious, asking questions about why we were walking and what it had to do with Jesus. I shared with him how deeply Jesus loves him and how Jesus knew him even before he was born. He was amazed and thrilled by this truth.

For the rest of the procession, he proudly walked alongside, eagerly learning the words to the “Hail Mary” and joyfully praying with all the adults. He even sat quietly through the entire Good Friday service.

I had absolute faith that the prayers would work when I prayed them, but I never imagined God would give me the gift of seeing it happen.

Thank you for your ministry, John.

What Other Are Saying About Onward Catholic

Onward Catholic Soldier is one of the most powerful and important books I have ever read in my life, since the Bible.
I wish I would have had this book eons ago. Everyone should read it. It presented me with insights I could never see on my own, let alone understand.
John LaBriola's work powerfully refutes the modernist madness that is trying to disarm the Church militant and make her an easy victim for her mortal foe, the Devil.
John is an amazing speaker and thinker. He knows how evil works in our lives, and how temptation can really attack our faith. He is a great Catholic witness. Very faithful to the Church!

Do you ever feel like there is a spiritual battle waging war in and around you?

Well, you're right.

The reality is the moment you were conceived, you were thrust into a battle for your immortal soul. When you were born, you were born into a war zone. When you were baptized, you were fitted with combat boots. You also, in that precise moment, became a redeemed child of God and an enemy of Satan.

Do you feel ill-equipped to fight this battle on your own? Us too. That's why we turned to scripture, the Church, and the saints to put together this must-read book.

Does Prayer Really Work?

My sister, Sarah, and her partner, Courtney, are living a life contrary to the teachings of the Church but I have learned that there is always hope.

Recently, my parents were visiting Sarah and Courtney and they began asking my parents questions about the Catholic Faith with animosity - even to the point of Courtney slamming her fist on the table shouting that she would never become Catholic.

After the discussion, Courtney approached my dad and asked specifically about "this confession thing". My dad prayed for the Holy Spirit’s guidance and began to share the beauty of this Sacrament of mercy.  He explained how, in confession, the priest stands in persona Christi—in the Person of Christ— and it is Christ Himself extending mercy and forgiveness.

Moved to tears, she said, "Now I understand!"

This moment opened the door for deeper conversation and questions throughout the evening, but this time, without any hostility—just a genuine seeking of the truth and sincere desire to understand.

We know they are struggling with the lifestyle that they are living and the truth of God and His Church.

I know that without a doubt by praying these prayers for them, they are experiences glimpses of the peace and truth their souls are longing for.

Praise be to God!

SPIRITUAL WARFARE

God desires your eternal happiness while Satan desires your eternal separation from God. Spiritual warfare, then, refers to both the battle that took place between God and Satan and the battles that are taking place between evil spirits and human beings.
